How your Venice airport transfer works
Marco Polo has a single terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor. Ferjy waits where you come out of baggage reclaim, holding a board with your name. He helps with suitcases, skis or a pushchair and walks you to the car park, where the black Mercedes V-Class is ready, clean and well kept. No queues, no hunting for the right shuttle.
Send us your flight number a few days ahead: we monitor the flight and adapt the pick-up time if it lands late. The price is fixed per vehicle, not per person, and confirmed in writing before you travel, whatever the traffic does along the way.
The route: the A27 motorway, then the Cadore valleys
Towards Cortina and the eastern Dolomites there is essentially one main road. From the airport we join the A27 motorway towards Belluno: about 80 km across the Venetian plain and the first foothills, to Pian di Vedoia, where the motorway ends. From there the SS51 Alemagna road climbs through Longarone, Pieve di Cadore and San Vito di Cadore to Cortina d’Ampezzo.
For Alta Badia we carry on beyond Cortina over the Falzarego and Valparola passes, one of the finest stretches of the whole journey. If a pass is closed by snow, we go round through the Pusteria valley instead: more kilometres, but on valley roads. For Bolzano we usually take the A4 to Verona and then the A22 Brenner motorway, or the Valsugana road to Trento. For Val Gardena we can climb over the Dolomite passes or take the longer way round by motorway: the times are similar. We decide on the day, according to season, weather and traffic.
Indicative times and distances from Marco Polo
These are driving times without stops, in normal traffic. On winter Saturdays, often changeover day at the hotels, and in mid-August the road up to Cortina can be slow: on those days we build in extra time and tell you in advance.
- Cortina d’Ampezzo: about 150–160 km, about 2 h – 2 h 30
- Alta Badia (Corvara, La Villa, San Cassiano): about 170–190 km, about 2 h 30 – 3 h 15
- Val Gardena (Ortisei, Santa Cristina, Selva): about 3 h – 3 h 30, depending on the route
- Bolzano: about 220–275 km depending on the route, about 3 h – 3 h 30
- Treviso airport to Cortina: about 130–140 km, about 1 h 45 – 2 h 15
Venice Marco Polo or Treviso?
Many low-cost flights land at Treviso, a small airport a few kilometres from the A27. For Cortina and the Cadore it is actually a little closer than Marco Polo; for Bolzano and Val Gardena the driving times are similar. The service is the same: meet and greet in arrivals, a name board, and Ferjy loading the luggage.
If your group arrives on two different flights, one into Venice and one into Treviso, we collect everyone in turn. Mention it when you ask for a quote and we will work out the timings together.
Private transfer, bus or train?
Direct coaches run from Marco Polo to Cortina, on fixed timetables and with limited seats on peak days. To Bolzano and Val Gardena the train goes via Venezia Mestre and Verona, with at least one change and more than three hours of travel, and at the end you still need onward transport up the valley.
With a private driver, the journey starts when you land and ends at your hotel door. For a family with children, friends with skis and boots, or anyone off a long-haul flight, it is a practical alternative to a taxi on a long route: one vehicle for seven people and all their bags. Where we drive from Venice airport
Venice is the most convenient airport for Cortina and the eastern Dolomites, and a good choice for Alta Badia too. These are the main destinations, always to the door of your hotel or holiday flat.

Skis, luggage, children and stops
The V-Class seats seven passengers with room for everyone’s luggage. In winter we carry skis and boots: tell us beforehand how many suitcases and ski bags you have, so we can plan the space. Child seats are available on request.
After a long flight, we stop for a coffee or a stretch whenever you need, usually once the motorway ends and before the climb into the Cadore. Just tell Ferjy: it is your journey.
