What an NCC is, and why it suits Bolzano
In Italy a private driver service is called NCC, noleggio con conducente, literally ‘hire with driver’. It is a licensed private transport service that is booked in advance at an agreed price. Our base is at Viale Druso 135 in Bolzano, and every journey starts here, whether it is ten minutes to the station or a full day over the passes.
Unlike a taxi, an NCC cannot be hailed in the street or picked up at a rank: date, time, route and price are set beforehand. Many travellers book one instead of a taxi, especially for longer journeys: a vehicle and driver reserved for your party alone, from pick-up to the hotel door.

Approximate journey times from Bolzano
Bolzano sits at the heart of South Tyrol, where the Isarco valley meets the Adige valley, half an hour or so from the entrance to the main Dolomite valleys. The times below assume normal traffic and dry roads: in summer and on busy holiday weekends they can be longer, and in winter they also depend on snow and pass closures.
- Bolzano airport: about 7 km, 15 minutes.
- Caldaro and the Wine Road: about 17 km, 20–30 minutes.
- Merano: about 33 km, 30–40 minutes.
- Siusi, for the Alpe di Siusi cable car: about 23 km, 30–40 minutes.
- Lago di Carezza: about 26 km, 35–45 minutes.
- Ortisei in Val Gardena: about 36 km, 40–50 minutes.
- Bressanone: about 41 km, 35–45 minutes.
- Corvara in Alta Badia: about 1 h 15 – 1 h 45, depending on whether the route crosses Passo Gardena or runs through the Pusteria valley.
- Verona airport: about 155 km, 1 h 45 – 2 h 15.
The vehicle and your driver
You travel in a clean, well-kept black Mercedes-Benz V-Class with room for up to seven passengers and everyone’s luggage. It is air-conditioned; child seats and ski transport are available on request, so just mention them when you book. See photos and details of the vehicle.
Ferjy, the owner, is always at the wheel: no stand-in drivers, no dispatch centre. He speaks English, Italian, German and French, so you can explain what you need in your own language, and before every mountain journey he checks the state of the roads and passes.
In town, in the evening and on business
Not everything is about mountains. We drive you from Bolzano station to your hotel, to dinner on the Wine Road between Appiano and Caldaro, to the Bolzano and Merano Christmas markets during Advent, or to a wedding at a farmhouse or a castle. The return time is agreed in advance, so nobody has to drive after dinner.
Business travellers book transfers to the Bolzano trade fair or to meetings anywhere in the province, with precise timings and a single point of contact for the whole trip. Some streets in the old town are pedestrianised: in that case we tell you the nearest point where the vehicle can stop.
